AP2HI’s Role in Promoting Sustainable Tuna

Indonesian Pole & Line and Handline Fisheries Association (AP2HI) played a pivotal role in the expo, showcasing sustainable tuna products from its members, PT. Intimas Surya and PT. Hatindo Makmur. Their offerings included sashimi-grade tuna, tuna steak, saku, as well as fresh and frozen products.

To highlight the versatility of Indonesian tuna, Chef Prama also presented creative culinary demonstrations with dishes such as tuna dabu-dabu, sambal matah, unagi sauce tuna, and tuna tataki, allowing attendees to experience firsthand the taste of Indonesian tuna. Their participation underscores Indonesia’s dedication to sustainable fishing practices.

Engaging with International Buyers

The expo provided a platform for AP2HI members to engage with international buyers. Business matching sessions facilitated discussions on product offerings, certifications, and supply capabilities. Notably, several buyers expressed interest in establishing direct partnerships with AP2HI members, recognizing the value of sourcing from certified sustainable fisheries.

Commitment to Traceability and Social Responsibility

AP2HI emphasizes the importance of traceability in its supply chain. Through digital platforms, buyers can trace the journey of each tuna from capture to processing, ensuring transparency and accountability. Moreover, AP2HI advocates for the welfare of small-scale fishers, highlighting their role as stewards of the ocean and essential contributors to Indonesia’s fishing heritage.

Looking Ahead

The success of AP2HI’s participation in the Bali Interfood Expo 2025 underscores the potential of Indonesia’s sustainable tuna fisheries in the global market. By continuing to innovate and collaborate, AP2HI and its members are poised to meet the growing demand for responsibly sourced seafood, contributing to the preservation of marine ecosystems and the livelihoods of coastal communities.
